Hau'oli la hanau e Kamahiwa! It's Hiwa's 9th birthday today! Last night he and Daddy baked a chocolate cake and this morning he and Mommy frosted and decorated it with colorful sprinkles. I drove the kids to school today so we could help Hiwa get his cake there safely and so I could take pictures of Kamalani on her banquet day.
Hiwa poses with his homemade chocolate funfetti cake. I can't believe our "baby" is 9 already! Time sure goes by quickly. Tonight he chose to have Sloppy Joes for dinner. Of course, we'll have to have more cake and add ice cream this time!
I am so grateful for the greatest calling Heavenly Father has given me, the sacred calling of Motherhood! Happy Birthday, Hiwa!

Kamalani's 8th Grade Banquet
June 1, 2009 - Kamalani is 2 months away from turning 14!
Well, today Kamalani got all dressed up for her 8th Grade Banquet. She's been looking forward to this for a while now. Over the weekend we went shopping to pick out her dress, shoes and accessories. I think we made a great selection (see the pictures below).
We took pictures in Tutu's yard in the morning.
Then more pictures at school and with her friends . . .
Ka'ehu Fernandez, Puaonaona Asuncion, Kamalani Kawa'a and Manaloa 'Aikala.
Kama, Pua and the boys!
Kamalani and her best friend - BFF!
Hawaiian beauties at their best!
Today brought back many memories for me as Mommy. I remembered my own 8th Grade Banquet. I wore an Aqua Blue Taffeta dress with white lace, gloves and satin white pumps - yes, it was 1987! I'm such an 80's chic, complete with the feathered bangs and braces! Ronald Alexander and I were voted "Most Likely to Get Married" - LOL!!!!
I hope Kamalani has a wonderful time and makes many good memories with her friends today. In 7 weeks she will be a freshmen in High School at King Kekaulike. I'm not sure if Llewellyn and I are ready for that journey - but we better get ready quick!
